Back to the Beginning, God and the Word

Well greetings brethren. In a way it seems strange to me to be back here in Vancouver, Washington. I lived here for six months in 1924, and the modern era of the work — the Church of God — was started in a sense, in Portland just across the river; and all of you who are here now, directly or indirectly are my children in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now in these years that have been going by, we all get a little bit older. Since my 92nd birthday — I’m beginning to brag a little bit. It seems like some people like to brag on their age when they become a little older.

About Herbert W Armstrong

Herbert W. Armstrong (July 31, 1892 – January 16, 1986) founded the Worldwide Church of God in the late 1930s, as well as Ambassador College in 1946, and was an early pioneer of radio and tele-evangelism, originally taking to the airwaves in the 1930s from Eugene, Oregon. Mr. Armstrong preached an eclectic set of theological doctrines and teachings that came directly from the Bible. His teachings included the interpretation of biblical prophecy and taught observance of God’s Laws, Sabbath (Saturday), and the Biblical “Holy Days”.
